Jennifer Vollbrecht – President of J. Vollbrecht Consulting

As a former helicopter crew chief and door gunner in the Marines, Jennifer Vollbrecht describes herself as an “ultra planner.” After separating from active duty, those traits remained when she became a project manager at a national lab.

However, when the job became overwhelming and without additional resources, Vollbrecht would hire consultants — until she realized she, too, could do that. Now, she owns and operates J. Vollbrecht Consulting.

“These consultants got to work with different agencies and entities while pulling their skills together to really deliver a polished project,” she said. “We at J. Vollbrecht Consulting are experts in delivering government projects and project controls to government agencies.”

When she heard about the Military Women Startup Accelerator through the PenFed Foundation’s VEIP, she saw it as an opportunity for professional development — an important area that sometimes ends up on the back burner for an overtasked business owner.

Another exciting aspect was the program focused on investing in women veterans.

Vollbrecht said she was grateful for the opportunity to network with other military-affiliated businesswomen and receive a tailored education that would lead her to other resources specific to the community.

“What stuck with me was validation of myself as a female-veteran entrepreneur and knowing there are other women out there like me,” she said.

The program, according to Vollbrecht, helped her “define the face of the business.”

“The curriculum helped me to build out what my sales process is and who my customers are … and helped me to define my goals as a business,” she said.

Vollbrecht is pursuing one of those goals as she continues to build relationships with potential clients and partners through her website, JVC-inc.com.
